COVID-19 Supply Chain Management (23rd March 2020)

I hope you, your family and your colleagues are staying safe and well.

I want to reassure you that here at Challenge Engineering we are monitoring our supply chain risk and continue to proudly manufacture for Australia.

We have at least 3 or 4 preferred suppliers for each type of raw material and for our tooling. These suppliers are large multinational companies and we have been working with them for many years.

We have spoken to these suppliers and asked them about their supply management plans. Given their size, they source materials/tooling from many countries including: Africa, China, South Korea, Malaysia, Germany and Italy.

For example, one of our steel suppliers currently has 1 million kilograms of steel here in Australia. This represents about 12 months supply. They have also fast-tracked all their upcoming orders to further increase that amount.

Most of our suppliers also have the majority of their employees working from home. Remaining employees tend to be the people who unpack and pack the trucks and they are taking strict health precautions.

At Challenge Engineering we do the CNC machining, so we don’t have any issues with continuing to supply you with machined parts.

With our own staff, we are strictly following all WHO recommendations. We have hand sanitisers, antibacterial soap, and wipes for disinfecting surfaces. Our office staff are working from home and our machinists work at separate workstations.

We will let you know if anything changes but for now at Challenge Engineering it is business as usual.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do contact us.

Thank you for your support and do take care.
